Area Description: The Plantation Bed and Breakfast is in Punxsutawney, the town where Punxsutawney Phil lives and of course is famous for Groundhog Day February 2nd. Although it is a small town, I get people from all over the world coming not only on Groundhog Day but all through the year. There are many Groundhog festivities that take place during the year that visitors come to participate in. Punxsutawey is set in the country side, which boast of rolling hills and is beautiful with each changing season. There is a large Amish group, so it is normal to see their horse and buggies in and around the country roads.
Site Description: The Plantation is set on 16.37 acres of gardens, forests and open fields.There is free unlimited gas, as well as 2 wind turbines that supply the house with electricity. The electricity bill is +- $10 per month in winter and +- $100 in the summer months.
Structural Description: The main house was built around 1856 and was build from brick. The guest side has 7 bedrooms all with their own bathrooms. There is a down stairs bedrooms for guest who can’t walk up stairs. On the second floor are 4 bedrooms and a the Groundhog suite. Then on the 3rd floor is another bedrooms. There is a separate suite which has its own entrance at the back of the house. This can be used by either guests or can be used as part of the family side. The family accommodation consists of an office, living room which has a guest bathroom, large country kitchen, laundry, and a bedroom and bathroom upstairs. It is completely separate with its own driveway and entrance. It is self contained with kitchen, living room, 2 bedroom and a bathroom downstairs and a further 2 bedrooms and bathroom upstairs.
