Area Description: Fabulous Inn is located on the corner of State Highway 9 and Lilac Ave in Cummington, a small town in the Berkshire Hills. It is located equidistant between Northampton MA and Pittsfield MA which are both a half-hour drive. North Adams, home of MASSMOCA, Williamstown, home of Williams College, the Clark Museum, and Lenox MA, home of Tanglewood are a beautiful stress-free drive of under an hour.

The area has many cultural events to go see or hear. Cummington has its own cultural district with an extensive historical museum, a historic Main St with outdoor art, and a small gallery. There are frequent music events in town plus free concerts in the summer at Greenwood Music Camp, which is one of several summer camps nearby. Adjacent to the house is 163 acres of protected land to roam in.

The house has frontage on the Westfield River, designated wild and scenic, where one can fish, swim and kayak. The area has great outdoor recreation in the multiple nearby state parks and state forests. The Cummington Fair is a true country fair that is big enough to have many attractions but small enough to be very family-friendly. The fairgrounds host a myriad of other events, including the Sheep and Wool Craft Fair, where the sheepdog trials are very popular, the Renaissance Fair, and horse and oxen draws are a few events. In the winter, there is both downhill skiing at Berkshire East and Nordic skiing and snowshoeing at Notchview

Site Description: The Cummington Inn is located on 5 acres with more acreage available on the corner of state Route 9 and Lilac Ave. The land is open and very level which provides a great spot for a large tent to host weddings and has plenty of field parking. The current owner has an obstacle course where he hosts Professional OCR/Obstacle Course Racing events.

The property also has a small beach on the Westfield River where your guests can swim, fish, or launch a kayak. Adjacent to the land is 156 acres of state-owned land for guests to hike in.

Other than the gorgeous Italianate Victorian Inn building there is a large barn, a small greenhouse, and a beautiful barbecue terrace that is partially covered. It is a beautiful site with good visibility but the fields and river area are peaceful with views of the surrounding countryside. This property would make a fantastic wedding venue, or a place to board people traveling with horses or hosting many people who are visiting the area or the many local colleges. Structural Description: The house is an Italianate Victorian with a widow’s walk on top. It has high ceilings and large windows that let in lots of light. In the early 1900s, another building that had been a hardware store was added to it, making the current ell.

The Inn sits on a fieldstone foundation with a cement floor. Most of the house has full basement underneath with the exception of the ell. The current owners restored the house starting in 2002. They updated all the wiring and plumbing. Last year they replaced the boiler/furnace. They replaced all the windows but three and the exterior doors are original. Most of the roof is standing seam metal but one section is asphalt shingles and flatter areas are the new rubber membrane roofing. The roofing in the widow’s walk can be walked on. When they restored the ell, they added insulation underneath and in the walls and ceiling. The main house was already insulated. Barn does need work.

Offering: Elegance abounds in this magnificently restored home. The former Cummington Inn could either be a B&B or a large single-family home. Perfect property for hosting weddings.
