Mountain View’s central location in the Ozarks makes it a perfect spot from which to sightsee and discover many regional attractions. The unspoiled natural beauty of the Ozarks provides endless opportunity for outdoor activities, including world class trout fishing on the White River and mountain biking on the newly developed Syllamo Mountain Bike Trail.
Everywhere you go, the area rings with the sound of Mountain, Folk and Bluegrass music. Musicians gather nightly during the season to play on the Historic Courtsquare along with offering a variety of Music Shows and “pickin’ barns”.
Visitors celebrate April in the Ozarks at the Arkansas Folk Festival and savor beautiful fall color in October during the BeanFest & Championship Outhouse Races. They experience the grand beauty of Blanchard Springs Caverns, located just north of Mountain View in the Ozark National Forest.
Swimming holes and creeks, fishing, picnic areas, hiking trails, wildlife and educational programs make Blanchard Springs Caverns the perfect family destination. August brings the annual Mountains, Music & Motorcycles rally to the Courtsquare. In December visitors celebrate the holidays at Caroling in the Caverns, a Christmas concert of area musicians performing seasonal carols in the majestic cathedral room. An extended tourist season includes indoor Bluegrass Festivals in both March and November.
Families enjoy spending the day at The Ozark Folk Center, which is dedicated to the preservation of the music and crafts of this culture. Crafts are an integral part of life in Mountain View, as they were the pioneer skills of yesterday. A perfect opportunity to tour area artists studios and watch them creating their art is during the “Off the Beaten path Studio Tour”, in mid-September.
