Site Description: Barklin House sits on slightly less than a half-acre lot. The front yard is deep and boasts two large dogwoods and a massive willow oak. The traditional shrubbery compliments the house, which has heart-pine floors through-out, most window glass original, original hardware, high ceilings (11 foot down, 10 foot up) and two original ceiling fixtures, ten fireplaces with original tile.
The rear is a casual garden of various period shrubs, vintage perennials, collectible small trees, an herb garden, raised flower beds and a large productive pecan tree. Arbors, paths and brick borders enhance the setting.
The driveway leads to a 22 by 28 foot wooden garage, built 1998 to emulate the historic style of the main house. The interior is finished, has a separate workshop/tool room, and is heated and air-conditioned. French doors open on a 10\’ wide deck running the length of the structure and overlooking the rear garden.
